Thermoplastic molded articles tend to be carbonized or melted in an arc or tracking environment. Thermosets, however, perform well in these cases without significant change. Thermosets have tracking index (CTI) values greater than 600 volts and dielectric strengths in excess of 15 kV/mm. In the electrical field, Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) are used to make parts with tracking resistance greater than 600 minutes and arc resistance greater than 180 seconds.
