Technology Products Market

Sheet molding compound (SMC) is also composed of polyester resin, inert filler, fiber reinforcing material, catalyst, pigment and stabilizer, mold release agent and thickener. Sheet molding compounds are produced using a continuous in-line production process. In order to prevent the sheets from adhering to each other, the upper and lower sides of the sheets will be covered with a plastic film during production. This film is a polystyrene film or a polystyrene/nylon composite film. During production, the slurry is uniformly coated on the bottom film, and then the chopped glass fibers are evenly scattered on the slurry and randomly arranged; finally, the top film is coated on it to form a sandwich structure of a predetermined thickness. After 48 hours of curing, the tablet can be used for compression molding.

Sheet molding compound (SMC) is used for compression molding, usually for larger parts-it is necessary to achieve high mechanical strength. The glass fiber reinforcement is between 10% and 60%, and the glass length is slightly longer than the mass molding compound (BMC)-between 1/2 inch and 1 inch (25mm).

Sheet molding compounds can be molded into complex shapes. Sheet molding compound has high mechanical properties and outstanding appearance. It is an ideal choice for automobile A- class body covering parts, high-strength electrical parts, commercial cabinets, water skis and various components.
