IDI Composites announced International that Ramon Rodriguez-Irizarry, vice president and group director of electric vehicles, is retiring after 35 years.

Ramon Rodriguez-Irizarry announced his resignation as vice president of IDI Composites International (IDI) after 35 years of great success with the company.

Ramon joined IDI in August 1985. Originally IDI founder John Merrell hired Ramon to join the company as manager of the IDI Caribe plant in Puerto Rico. Here, Ramon demonstrates IDI's commitment and collaboration with customers, positioning IDI Caribe as a value-added partner for electrical customers. He quickly became an integral part of the company and subsequently held a number of positions, most recently as Vice President and General Manager of IDI Composites International China, and later as Director of the Electric Vehicle Market Development Group.

Over the past 35 years, IDI Eti has asked Ramon for more, and his response reflects what we call dedication. "I am proud of what Ramon has achieved at IDI Eti, and proud that my friend Ramon has been such an important part of IDI's heritage," said Tom Merrell, President of IDI Composites International.

With his dedication and energy, his intelligence, and his openness to possibilities, Ramon embodies the spirit of the IDI brand. During his tenure as General Manager of IDI ETI China, he worked tirelessly to drive the team's pursuit of market development and operational excellence. More recently, his leadership in the electric vehicle market has made IDI ETI and its Flamevex materials the premier solution to the automotive industry's toughest challenges.

Retirement after 35 years of work is a memorable achievement and worth celebrating. During the celebration, we allow ourselves to enjoy life and demonstrate our values and principles. I'll never forget the day I met John and Verna Merrell. Their teachings carry the meaning of IDI's culture; I strive to give back to the community by helping others. I owe you a debt of gratitude and love to those of you who completed difficult goals at my request. You are my superheroes. Ramon's contribution to IDI Eti has been immeasurable and his influence will continue for years to come. He is a master storyteller who, as a mentor and friend, has helped shape the next generation of IDI leaders around the world.

Ramon will retire on December 31, 2020.
